Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas have finally revealed the name of their baby boy. They didn't name the little guy after any of the fairy tale characters on "Once Upon a Time," but the tyke does share his name with a Disney character.
According to a June 4 report by Hollywood Life, Ginny and Josh named their baby Oliver Finlay Dallas. It's refreshingly nice and normal, and the couple can give their child the adorable nickname Ollie. It's doubtful that they purposely named their son after a Disney character, but Oliver does share his moniker with the furry kitty star of "Oliver & Company," the 1988 Disney movie based on "Oliver Twist."
Oliver is one of the few animated Disney characters who hasn't popped up on "Once Upon a Time." However, you could argue that the onscreen daughter of Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas is inspired a bit by Oliver. Just like the street cat, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) grew up an orphan and became a thief.
Ginny and Josh's characters, Snow White and Prince Charming, recently became parents on "Once Upon a Time" for a second time. They also welcomed a son on the show, naming him after deceased character Neal (Michael Raymond-James). According to Ginny, Josh didn't want to name their real-life baby after a person – he wanted to name the tot after a place. "He was like, 'Boy or girl, Austin Dallas,'" Ginny told Jimmy Kimmel of Josh's name idea. Luckily, she wasn't a fan of this cheesy moniker, so no one will confuse their kid with an airport. "I’m pretty sure that is an actual place where planes land. We can’t do that,'" she said.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas aren't the only celebrity fans of the name Oliver. "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen gave birth to her son Oliver in 2007, and "Chuck" actress Sarah Lancaster welcomed her own Oliver in 2011. Ginny and Josh haven't revealed the inspiration behind their baby name choice yet, but Oliver has French origins and can mean "olive tree." The meaning of their son's middle name, Finlay, is perfect for a Snowing baby – it's an Irish name that means "fair hero."
