During last night's Republican Presidential debate Newt Gingrich went after CNN's moderators for failing to bring up Obama's support for infanticide although they were quick to shine the spotlight on Republicans who condemn the policies of the current Administration regarding abortion, free contraception, and other controversial programs.
Not once during last night's debate or during the entirety of the 2008 Presidential campaign did the news media inform the public that as a state legislator in Illinois Barack Obama opposed a bill that would save the life of a new born infant if that infant survived an abortion attempt.
CNN claims that it did, indeed, report the story in 2008, but, as with the New York Times and other Leftwing oriented news organizations, editors can claim innocence by pointing to stories they placed on the back pages somewhere underneath the story of a local bag lady who gave away her lollipop to a child. True, they reported it, but the manner in which it was reported insured little or no attention.
The case at the center of the controversy revolved around a registered delivery ward nurse in Illinois by the name of Jill Stanek. Stanek reported that infants who survived abortion attempts were routinely left to die. She presented photos that proved her case.
But Obama voted against a bill that was designed to mandate that healthcare professionals save the lives of such infants if they survive an abortion attempt. Such a stance is tantamount to support for infanticide.
When Obama was later elected to the U.S. Senate, he continued his support for unlimited, unfettered abortion rights, often taking a position on the issue that was more pro-abortion than the special interest groups that lobby for such measures in the Congress.
Americans have been sharply divided on the issue of abortion itself, indicating that although they tend to support the right of a woman to terminate a pregnancy they are reticent about making such a right absolute. Partial birth abortion, for example, has been condemned as barbaric by most Americans, and the notion that an infant who is viable and can survive on its own after a botched abortion attempt should be killed or left to die is generally viewed as closely akin to cold blooded murder.
It is for this reason that states and the Congress have passed a plethora of restrictions on abortion through the years in order to prevent these extreme examples of barbarism from occurring.
But in Obama's case, the views of most Americans on this issue are irrelevant. He is no doubt the most pro-abortion President in U.S. history, and his voting record proves it. No other politician elected to the highest office in the land has ever come close to aligning himself with the extremist notion that infants that survive abortions should be killed.
Yet the news media made sure that this fact never got reported in 2008, and it continues to bury this story in 2012 while attempting to portray Republicans who value the sanctity of human life as 'extremist.'
Thus, Newt was right on target once again. The real extremist resides in the White House.
