Ginger Leblanc and Jermond Bourgious in boxing showdown tonight

Toby Wattigney, the head boxing coach of the POWER boxing team on the West Bank, is bringing two of his top prospects to Chalmette tonight.  Jamond Bourgious (3-1) and Ginger Leblanc, who has held a top ten world ranking at heavyweight.  The show is at the Sigur Center in St. Bernard this evening.  Tickets are available at the door.

The fight, promoted Leslie Bonano is one of a handful of pro boxing matches in the New Orleans area in the past few years.

Mr. Toby (as Wattigney is called by his students and fans), is currently coaching more than twenty amateur and professional boxers at POWER MMA and Boxing.   A dedicated boxing coach, Mr. Toby, shows up each and every available evening (when he is not working) to coach fighters of all skill levels and styles.  For the past month Mr. Toby's focus has been on the evening's matchups, "this event is going to propel Ginger into the top five heavyweights in the country and for Jermond its going to show that he can take on a brawler and deal with a power punching situation."

"I feel mentally prepared for this fight.  I trained three times as hard for this fight as I did for my last one," said Leblanc.  I've had Toby, Mike, and Johnnie (Mike and Johnnie are both part of the Wattigney's coaching crew) help me increase my boxing abilities.

Saretha Bonner, who hails from Pensecola Florida, will face Leblanc.  Bonner has been boxing for the past fourteen months after finding the sport because she found the gym boring. Her trainer, Roy Jones Sr. is well known in the sport having produced nine world champions from his gym.  Bonner says that Jones Sr. has gotten her "mentally conditioned" to fight. "I've never been able to push myself like this."

"I am quick and I am fast and I seek and I destroy.  Simply put, I am looking forward to the fight. Its a great opportunity for me."  Bonner has her girlfriend Davita, her mom, her sister, her stepdad, and many of her gym mates from Da Dungeon will be in attendance as well.

The main even tonight will feature Bobby O'Bannan vs. Raphael "the Cajun Connection" Pedro at at heavyweight.  Also Kelvin Price (11-0) vs. Stacey "Bigfoot" Frazier (14-7, 13-0) at heavyweight.
