Gina Carano has brought about great fame with her MMA fighting, but now she is looking to really make it as an action star in movies. She's going to get a good chance now as the Hollywood Reporter revealed on Oct. 1, 2013, that Anchor Bay Entertainment has agreed to release her film, "In the Blood."
Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark announced that they had acquired the North American rights to the film that co-stars Luis Guzman, Stephen Lang, Amaury Nolasco, Cam Gigandet, Danny Trejo, Treat Williams, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Yvette Yates.
"The first time I saw Gina Carano fight with Pro Elite, I knew I had to make a movie with her," stated Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions. "'In The Blood' is the perfect film for Gina and we at Anchor Bay Films are proud to be releasing it."
Gina Carano plays the role of Ava, a newlywed whose husband disappears while they are on their honeymoon in the Caribbean. As she grieves, she also decides to aggressively pursue the men she believes kidnapped and killed her new husband.
She soon discovers a deep conspiracy that becomes a trail of blood, revenge, and much more.
"'In the Blood' represents the start of a strong female franchise character and audiences are going to love seeing Gina Carano as 'Ava,'" said producers Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield.
Carano's acting debut came in a film called "Haywire" which Steven Soderbergh modeled around her.
