Former MMA fighter turned action star Gina Carano will be kicking butt again in her new action thriller, “In the Blood,” which has been scheduled for an April 4 release date, according to a Feb. 19 press release email. Anchor Bay Films, in a joint distribution with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, will simultaneously release the film to theaters, iTunes, and On Demand on that day.
Below is the synopsis of the film:
“Gina Carano stars as Ava, a trained fighter with a dark past. When her new husband (Cam Gigandet) vanishes during their Caribbean honeymoon, Ava uncovers a violent underworld of conspiracy in the middle of an island paradise. Armed with a deadly set of skills, Ava sets out to discover the truth – and to take down the men she thinks are responsible for his abduction, one by one.”
Carano’s fighting skills have worked well outside of the ring – impressing critics with her big screen debut in Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire.” She also made an appearance in 2013’s “Fast & Furious 6.”
“In the Blood” also stars Luis Guzman, Amaury Nolasco, Ismael Cruz Cordoba, Treat Williams, Stephen Lang, and Danny Trejo. John Stockwell directed, while James Robert Johnson and Bennett Yellin penned the screenplay.
