'Gimme Some Truth': A look at the John Lennon remasters radio special

"Gimme Some Truth: A 70th Birthday Celebration With Yoko Ono" is an hourlong audio radio special in which a very exuberant Yoko Ono talks about the thought process that went into the John Lennon remasters that were just released. The program is playing on stations around the country through Oct. 17.

Interviewer Jody Denberg asks her why the Lennon catalog is being remastered again. "The last time was the remixing as well. And some people might say, "Well, why did you do that? It's like sacriligious or something. And we wanted to experiment and tried to make his sound kind of communicate," Ono says. "But then this time, we went all the way back to the originals and remastered."

She also talks about why she decided to do a "stripped down" version of "Double Fantasy."I just heard from people that nowadays they're doing strip downs. And I thought, 'Wow, that's right up my alley.' You know, in the '70s and '80s, around that time, people in the music world had the tracks very heavy and the voice was coming from far away or something. I thought that was silly. Because especially in John's case, his voice was incredible. I just wanted to push it up a bit," she tells Denberg. "He was not very proud of his voice, can you imagine? It was the best voice in the world."

There's a Verizon pop-up add that completely takes over the screen when I'm on here and prevents me from doing ANYTHING. It's pretty annoying and if it continues I'll have to stop opening examiner.com which would be a shame.
