Gilroy marijuana operation busted up

One man was arrested and an illegal marijuana cultivation operation in Gilroy busted up last week, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department reports.

The department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on an Apache Court residence on February 21. The search yielded about 70 pounds of processed marijuana and 468 marijuana plants. Investigators also discovered evidence of unlawful bypassing of power lines at the scene, officials say.

Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tri Tran. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for suspicion of unlawful marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and theft of utilities.

According to sheriff’s officials, the total street value for the seized marijuana was estimated at more than $600,000.
