Gilliard's store is a small country store sitting on highway 93 between Pelham, Ga and Cairo, Ga and is very well known as the "home of the whole hog sausage". Each year they organize an event known as Gilliard's Music Day, or Gilliard Day. This event is relatively small compared to others in the area, usually attracting only about 5,000 visitors.
There are plenty of things to do and see at Gilliard Day including arts and crafts vendors, music preformed by local bands, plenty of food, and an Elvis tribute at noon. The event is on February 13th from 10am until 6pm on the field in front of the store. It is free to attend, but donations are collected for the volunteer fire department.
Gillard's store opened in 1945 and has been handed down through the family. Marion and Thelma Gilliard, who opened the store, are now in their 90's and can still be seen hanging around the store and enjoying conversation with customers.
