The Houston Dynamo rallied in the 61st minute on a goal by Giles Barnes to down the LA Galaxy by the score of 1-0 in front of 22, 233 fans on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas.
The game was a defensive battle with neither team able to gain an advantage until forward Mark Sherrod was able to get the ball and pass it with pin point accuracy to Barnes for the score.
With a total of 21 attempts on goal, neither the Dynamo nor the Galaxy could find a way to get the ball past the opposing goalkeepers.
Three yellow cards were issued during the match with defender Jermaine Taylor received his warning for a foul in the 17th minute.
Los Angeles was awarded the remaining two cards; their first in the 19th minute to defender A.J. DeLaGarza and in the 76th minute to defender Kofi Opare.
With the win, the Dynamo raised their season record to 5-5-2 (17 points), while the Galaxy fell to 2-3-3 (9 points).
The match was the only meeting between both teams during the regular season for 2014.
Houston will now hit the road for their next three games before returning to BBVA Compass Stadium on June 6 for a 7:30 p.m. match against Sporting Kansas City.
The first game of their extended road trip will be against DC United ay RFK Stadium on May 21.
They will follow that up with a 9:30 p.m. CDT match againt the San Jose Earthquakes on May 25.
Their final game of the road trip will be on June 1 against the Colorado Rapids with a 7:00 CDT kickoff.
