The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is hosting another Gift Cards for Guns Event and this time it will take place tomorrow in Chula Vista. Anyone with unwanted guns can bring them in the trunk of their vehicle to the South Bay Courthouse located at 500 3rd Avenue, Chula Vista, California, 91910. If you are bringing guns you will enter the parking lot off I Street west of Third Avenue.
The gift cards have been bought using $2,500 in forfeiture funds (money confinscated from people who are arrested and caught with money that's involved with illegal activities).
The giftcards for guns exchange is a team effort with the help of the Chula Vista Police Department and National City Police Department; and also the District Attorney's office.
Unloaded guns only should be transported in the trunk and a deputy officer will remove them from the trunk of your car for you. Gift cards may be redeemed at local grocery stores. Only one gift card per vehicle will be given. All guns collected will be destroyed.
