Holy holiday heart full of great last minute gift ideas, do I have something special for YOU. Martin Rivas--a singer/songwriter based out of NYC--is recording a new album and oh my, it’s going to be amazing. Alex Wong is producing it (Vienna Teng, Ari Hest, Ximena Sariñana, Elizabeth and the Catapult) and with all that talent in one room, you know it’s destined to be beyond words.
So here’s the thing, the album is being funded grass-roots style through KICKSTARTER. If you’re familiar with any of my previous articles on the fundraising campaign, then you know besides helping someone achieve their dreams, there will be prizes. SPARKLY PRIZES.

Martin has reached his original goal, BUT BUT BUT he’s so close to making a second goal...that includes the recording of a second album. Yeah. He’s kind of awesome like that. Here’s a quote taken directly from his KICKSTARTER campaign:
“I've set a new goal, with a new prize that everyone who contributes will receive. If we reach $16,000 by the end of the campaign, I will record an ADDITIONAL ALBUM.
What's more, it will be a homespun album of duets of classic songs from the wide and wonderful world of music history with some of my very favorite singers in the New York City Music Community.
And everyone who has already contributed or will contribute $15 or more gets a copy of it, in addition to whatever goodies you choose at my Kickstarter page.
Already, some of my rock and roll superheroes have agreed to be part of it... to wit!: Bess Rogers, Chrissi Poland, Allison Weiss, Greg Holden, Rachel Platten, and Greg Mayo, for starters.”
Martin Rivas is not only a talented musician, he’s got a heart of pure gold. When hurricane Irene devastated the Catskills, he sprung into action, quickly organizing a benefit relief album titled AFTER THE FLOOD with 43 of his musical contemporaries. And that’s just ONE example of how big his heart is.
So if you need a special gift, for that crazy music lover in your life - go pledge $5, 10, $50 dollars (or more!) and be a part of something truly wonderful this holiday season.
