Andy Lewis, better known as “Sketchy Andy,” will be taking his mad slacklining/highlining skills and attempting the urban highline world record from the exterior of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, 63 floors above the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. This is to kick off the 2013 World Slackline Federation (WSFed) Slackline World Cup Finals. Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil is teaming up with Gibbon Slacklines to showcase this record-breaking highline attempt.
Lewis will be forging a 480-foot high, 260-foot long slackline that will run parallel to the Las Vegas Strip. It will be rigged from two of Mandalay Bay’s resort towers. Three of the world’s top professional slackliners, Hayden Nickell, Josh Beaudoin and Mickey Wilson, will be performing tricks on individual slacklines, simultaneously, as Lewis performs this mega stunt. These slacklines will be rigged at the same height as Sketchy Andy’s line.
The cast of Michael Jackson ONE, which features professional slackline athletes Igor Zambelli and Gabriel Amaral, will participate in a special performance of the show’s slackline act choreographed to Michael Jackson’s number one hit, “Bad,” during the 2013 WSFed Slackline World Cup Finals at the Michael Jackson ONE Theater on Thursday, October 17.
It’s going to be a grand event full of adrenaline as Andy Lewis walks this highline to break a world record. Good luck to Lewis and make sure to head to Vegas October 16-17 to watch this incredible stunt and witness the amazing talent in the WSFed Slackline World Cup Finals!
Both the world-record attempt and the 2013 WSFed Slackline World Cup Finals are free, open to the public and for all ages. For information on spectator viewing for both events, please visit www.gibbonslacklines.com/Vegas.
