Giants winners over Patriots in Super Bowl 2012 Las Vegas betting trends (Video)

The NY Giants are big winners over the NE Patriots for Super Bowl 2012, at least with Las Vegas sportsbook betting odds and trends. While Tom Brady's team is the favorite to win, book makers say 58% of bets are in Manning's corner with a current line at -3.

Super Bowl XLVI Less about Winners, More about Las Vegas Betting Odds

It was just four years ago that these two titans of the National Football League met in Super Bowl XLII. Football fans remember all too well the results of that showdown where the Giants upset the Patriots in a fourth-quarter push.

While New England is considered the favorite over the Giants, Peyton Manning's younger brother Eli, could very well pull off a repeat their first meeting with Tom Brady and company in the 2012 Super Bowl matchup.

During the first meeting, over $85 million in bets were placed at gambling parlors. But this year could easily surpass that, and even set a record.

"So far Vegas sportsbooks are rooting for the Patriots and while that can still change by kickoff, the action has clearly been one-sided especially on the money line for the Giants to win the game outright. Looking at the point spread, it has only been a factor six times in the Super Bowl. The last three times these two teams have met, someone has scored to change the outcome in the last 1:30 of the game." ~ Chuck Esposito, Director of Race & Sports at Station Casinos

According to a report from Yahoo Sports, more than half of bets placed in Las Vegas sportsbooks are leaning heavily towards the Giants beating the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

When the opening odds came out, New York were given points in the spread of +4. However, since that time, it has come down to +3.5, and is flirting with 3.0.

With so much at stake, Las Vegas bookmakers realize that a large bet at the end could very well change the odds either way. What's more; with so much on the line for both NFL franchises, it's often very difficult to adjust the points spread against these two teams.

New York Giants versus New England Patriots: The Popular Proposition Bet

And with so much swirling around what team will win Super Bowl 2012, confusion on whether to bet the over/under, and a possibility the point spread may change in the final minutes before the kickoff, the proposition bet (or prop bet) is perhaps the safest wager.

Proposition bets allow sports gamblers to improve their chances of winning outside of the conventional odds and spreads of the game.

For example, a person can bet money in the Super Bowl on what team wins the coin toss, if the receiving team takes a knee in the end zone at the kickoff, resulting in a touchback, or even what team scores first.

If that's not enough, a proposition bet can be made on second-half scores, fumbles in the game, total yards, interceptions, or even if a team scores a safety.

Be sure to check your local laws and ordinances as it relates to making bets in this year's Super Bowl outside of Nevada and through online gambling sites.

Will the New York Giants be declared winners over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI? Or will Bill Belichick's football team March further into the history books? For now, the clear winners are Las Vegas gambling venues.
