The Red Wing Boot is a 638 ½ D and stands 16 feet tall. A person fitting this boot would stand 120 feet (12 stories) tall.
Constructed by the Red Wing shoe company to honor generations of boot-making, and probably also because they love an oddity that gets people’s attention.
The boot was paraded four blocks through the city of Red Wing, Minnesota.
The style selected is the 877, Red Wing’s signature work boot, first introduced in 1952. It is classic Red Wing.
The boot was constructed in the original Red Wing Shoe facility at 127 Main Street, Red Wing, Minnesota. Over 60 individuals (employees and retirees) volunteered their time for over a year to construct the boot.
The new home is the company’s 4,600 square foot museum scheduled to open August 2nd and showcase the world’s largest boot. Of course, there is a commercial aspect – that would be the 13,200 sq. ft. store complete with zones dedicated to each of the company’s four footwear brands.
Read the company's fascinating FAQs about the boot.
