Carbohydrates are synonymous in importance to athletes as their tennis shoes. Having this in mind, Lynette Hawkins, owner and executive chef of Giacomo’s Cibo e Vino, will be hosting a Carb Fest for the runners in the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon Saturday, January 14.
“To help those runners who want to maximize their time and energy for the marathon on Sunday, I am making a special pasta dish for Saturday night that will help them do just that,” stated Hawkins.
The Runner’s Pasta will be complete with these ingredients:
- Whole-wheat pasta
- Grilled chicken (or vegetarian)
- Caramelized sweet peppers and onions
- Olive oil
- Goat cheese
Giacomo's specialty pasta dish will be served from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday during the marathon, for $13. If you would like to add protein to the mix, grilled chicken can be served with your pasta for $15. In addition, the regular menu will also be served.
