Did you miss last night's SOLD OUT red carpet event and launch party for the GI Film Festival? Don't worry, there are plenty more exciting events going on all week but you may want to buy your tickets now before they sell out! Go HERE to see the schedule and buy your tickets.
The Festival kicked off Monday, May19, at the Old Town Theatre in Alexandria, VA to a sold out crowd that were on-hand to see the premier of Field of Lost Shoes! Actor David Arquette did interviews and guests were able to see and meet several of the stars from the movie. The movie itself is an epic Civil War tale about Virginia Military Institute cadets who are thrown into battle before they're ready. The story balances both small, character moments and the big courageous moments that are called for in times of battle.
This unique and prestigious festival is dedicated to sharing the military experience in and out of the arena of war and is first of its kind to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the service member through the medium of film. The GIFF presents films from new and established international and domestic filmmakers that honor the heroic stories of the American Armed Forces and the worldwide struggle for freedom and liberty. Some of the films screened are voted on by fans while others are screened for the first time. All will in some way express the courage and selflessness of our fighting men and women and the value of their work. The GI Film Festival is open to filmmakers of every experience level, from first-timers to veteran directors and producers. Prizes are awarded annually to winners in three main categories: feature, documentary, and film shorts. In addition to presenting feature, documentary, and short film screenings, the GIFF also presents panel discussions, educational forums and special events, including: Movie screenings by international and domestic filmmakers. Awards presentation featuring a special celebrity major motion picture screening. Kick-off cocktail party and red carpet events. Special exhibitions Hollywood “meet and greets,” and more!
