Well since we are in the month of Halloween I though that I would continue with the supernatural and paranormal. This article is on ghosts, different types, definitions, differences between residual haunting and intelligent haunting and other things regarding the supernatural and paranormal. I find this subject to be rather quit interesting. Let's start with what a ghost is, a ghost is a spiritual being or soul of a once living person and for whatever reason they have not crossed over to the "other side" or spiritual world where they should be. There are many reasons as to why they have not and here are the reasons why they have not crossed over.
One reason they have not crossed over is because of a violent death, such as murder, suicide or untimely accident. Unfinished business they may have had at the time they died, confusion or denial which is usually the case for most who remain trapped here. Others it's fear that if they cross over into the light that they maybe forgotten by those they left behind or afraid of judgement, and torment of being in Hell for past transgressions, or wrong doings that they perceived, such as in the case of murder or suicide. Sometimes it is to look after a loved one or a location such as a family home because they feel that they cannot survive with out them. Others it maybe due to guilt that they feel that they hurt their loved ones because they did not get the chance to properly say goodbye or due to them taking their life.
Too much grief because a loved one hurts and misses them and they cannot let go and let the person cross over that has passed on, other times it's because the living left things unsaid or said things that they regret and other times the spirit is unwilling to cross over because they have not yet accepted that they are dead. Some are trained to obey and this would be more like children because they were trained not to go off with out their parent's permission and so when they died they are left confused, disoriented because when they died they lost track of their parents and also because they did not obtain permission to leave.
Some stay here because of a broken heart because a person is so deep in grief at the passing of the person that it anchors or traps them here. Other times it is the spirit who is attached to material possessions and cannot let go, or if they perceive that they did not get a proper burial or their place of rest has been desecrated and finally because they are waiting for a loved one who is either trapped or will not cross over into the light or they are unaware that the loved one has crossed over or has died.
Now we're going to get into the definitions and different types of ghost.
Ghost/Spirit: The soul of a deceased person, disembodied spirit, usually imagined as vague, shadowy, or evenascent, wondering among us or haunting the living.
Orb: Spirits that manifest into a evenascen form.
Ectoplasm: A supernatural appearance of a spirit and usually is in the form of a smokey mist.
Streaks: The appearance of an orb moving in a fast motion.
Full-Bodied Apparition: The supernatural appearance of of a full body apparition but usually lasts for a second or so.
Shadow Person: A spirit that manifests itself as a shadowy silhouette usually in the form of a person and they move very fast and last for a second or so.
Elemental: A rare manifestation of a spirit which takes full appearance and physical form. This is typically seen as bad news because they can be quite violent.
Human Entity: The spirit of a human after passing through death, and not see as too dangerous. This type of spirit was a living person and is most likely to act the same in death as they did in life.
Non-Human Entity: This entity was never human and can be potentially dangerous, this type of entity can be either a demon or the spirit of an animal like a pet, although this kind is rarely encountered.
Demon: An entity that is malevolent in it's nature, very bad news for anyone that encounters it. Usually violent like mass murder, or horrific such as torture or sacrifices like animals or humans, or stupidity for example someone summoning such an entity through a ritual or Ouija board must transpire in order for such an entity to inhabit an area.
Residual Hauntings: This type of haunting is where a spirit or more than one spirit dwells there and is stuck in that time and repeats their actions over and over and are seeming unaware that they are deceased and do not interact with anyone or anything and it seems as if they do not need to absorb energy although no one knows why.
Intelligent Hauntings: These are hauntings in which a spirit or spirits interact with the living and they are actually conscious of the living person's presence and interact with people or events. They can understand and answer questions and this type is more common.
Poltergeist: The German word means " Noisy Ghost". This type of ghost can physically move, throw, smash or misplace objects. These ghost do this to get your attention, scare you, or be mischievous and play tricks on you by moving something so you cannot find it. This is also most commonly mistaken for telekinesis (the moving of objects with one's mind).
Things that ghosts use to manifest themselves: Ghosts use things such as solar energy, psychic/emotional energy, heat, Kinetic or EMF. EMF is Electromagnetic Field are things that are battery generated or electronics like TV's, computers, radios etc. They are low frequency energy waves that are below 300 hertz. Kinetic energy is energy in motion.
A cold spot which ghosts are known for is where a small area becomes colder than the ambient, or "normal temperature" and this is because they use kinetic energy or heat in the air to help manifest themselves, therefore this results in a reduction of heat forming a "cold spot".
Well I do hope this was informative and give you an air of spooky chills for this month, the month of Halloween. More on this subject of the supernatural and paranormal to come. Enjoy.
