The season premiere of “Ghost Mine” which aired on Sept. 4, welcomed the miners back to the Crescent Mine in search of gold. Kristen Lumen and Patrick Doyle also returned to continue their investigation of the paranormal – to keep the miners safe and attempt to uncover the cause of the reports of Tommy Knockers and other eerie paranormal events in and around the mine.
It didn’t take long for things to begin heating up as the miners soon discovered a stranger in dark clothing lurking around the mine. When they set out to confront the trespasser, no one was found. Patrick Doyle picked up on the sense of being watched and sent the miners back while he remained to check things out.
Using a full spectrum camera, Patrick shot a few pictures and uncovered a blurry image of what may have been a shadow figure lurking along the edge of the woods.
When exploring the ballroom of the Crescent Mine, the team uncovered a few unusual objects that appeared not to belong in a mine. Broken bottles and an old scythe were found lying around. The blade to the scythe was missing. Comments were made that perhaps the blade rusted off. Viewers can clearly see that the wooden handle is not rotted, that the screws are missing and the screw holes for the handle show no signs of aging. It appears that the scythe handle was placed in the mine recently, as it shows no signs of aging and no damage from the wet conditions inside the mine. How the blade of the scythe could rust off without the accompanying wood rotting is a mystery.
Other evidence included several barely audible EVPs that the team readily admits could be noise from the draft in the mine.
The "Ghost Mine" premiere of season 2 concluded with Patrick and Kristen reviewing the 360-degree time-lapse images taken in the abandoned mine. Although viewers are not shown what they discover, it does prompt Kristen and Patrick to go back in the mine to investigate. Under normal vision, the walls of the mine appear normal, but under black lights, Patrick and Kristen are able to make out images on the wall. What those images are will remain to be seen.
Tune in to SyFy next Wednesday at 10 p.m. to find out what Patrick and Kristen have discovered in the old mine.
