Ok I promised you more on the paranormal, so here it is. Today you will learn about ghost hunting, types of equipment used, and education. I will start off with education for this one as most of you may ask if you need any. Well there is no one avenue of education to train you to be a paranormal investigator; however, you can join and participate in committees or societies (like the paranormal society), or Flamel college for paranormal studies. There is also no certifications either to be a paranormal inevstigator. As for training you can either join or create a network of paranormal investigators who can or will provide you with the experience. Field work you can advertise your services on the internet or magazines to gain hands on experience, also there are publications like the Skeptical Inquirer which addresses the paranormal and extraordinary claims also providing information as to where to look and who to contract for work in this field.
First before you go ghost hunting always make sure that you are with a group of people for safety, in case of injury or getting lost and always have some means of communication such as walkie talkies, cell phones, or handle held radios.
The basics that are used in ghost hunting are 35mm camera with 400-800 film speed that has good night shots and use films like Fuji or Kodak.Which is good if you are starting out and do not have a lot of money.
Digital cameras with good night shots work as well; however, the down side to these is that they can be very expensive.
Video cameras that are equipped with some kind of night vision and tripod.
Flashlight for lighting your way to help avoid falling or tripping over things such as furniture or tree branches or roots.
Extra batteries because when ghosts fry to manifest themselves the they do drain the energy out of batteries and sometimes batteries do not last long.
Digital recorder to record electric voice phenomena, these are not very expensive and work better than the cassette recorders because there are no moving parts, like the motor which makes noise.
Candles and matches as sometimes you may run out of batteries and you can use them as well for lighting your way in place of a flashlight.
Motion detectors which will detect the presence of ghosts.
Note pad, pen and pencil to record when batteries were changed, your experiences, malfunction of equipment, your feelings, EVP, and EMF, temperature and times. Make sure you bring two pens and two mechanical pencils.
Wear proper clothing and shoes that are weather appropriate, such as tennis shoes, hiking boots, pants, shirts jackets.
KII meter/ EMF which meaures EFM (electricmagnetic fields).
Infrared Thermometer which are used to measure temperature of people, animals or ghosts.
Rempods which detect disturbances in the electromagnetic fields, detects the presence, proximity and strength of the distortion of the electromagnetic filed. A rempod is a mini telescoping antenna to radiate it's own independent magnetic field and is easily influenced by materials and other objects that conduct electricity.Based on the source proximity, strength and EMF distortion 4 colored LED lights light up in any order or combination. These typically run about $200.
Motion sensors actually detect heat signatures of anything that enters its field such as ambient temperatures in a room. The sensors will sound an alarm if there is colder than normal temperature in a room, thus the assumption of a ghostly presence is in the room.
Dowsing rods which are used but are not considered useful; however, they are cheap and easy to make, but those who do use them claim that they can detect ghosts and you can get yes or no answers, for example apart is yes and together is no almost like using a Ouija board.
Knowing your definitions: Ghost Hunt-Going to places where there have been known sightings of ghosts and trying to catch them on camera/video, sounds (audio) and eyewitness accounts. Places to start in ghost hunting are graveyards, churches, schools where ghosts are said/known to haunt, especially older schools and churches and battlefields as well.
Ghost investigation-Going to known places where ghost are known to haunt such as graveyards, old schools, prisons, churches and battlefields. To record data on video/camera, digital recorder, interviews, notes and other evidence to prove or disprove hauntings or to assist in the spirit to move on.
Last but not least always know what you are getting yourself into, and know what you are dealing with. 95% of the time ghosts/spirits are human and you will encounter two types of hauntings, residual and intelligent; however, there have been known and documented cases of some spirits attaching themselves to people so be careful. I will also add photo links of the equipment to this article as well you can see the types of equipment that are used in ghost hunting. I hope that this article was informative and piqued your interest in hunting for ghosts.
