With interest growing in the paranormal, colleges are offering classes in Ufology, ghost hunting and paranormal research. Several of these classes are being offered this fall at Illinois community colleges.
On October 19th, McHenry County College in Crystal Lake will be offering the class, Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. This class, taught by members of the Society for Anomalous Studies, is an overview of ghost hunting and paranormal investigations. The class encompasses the history of ghost hunting, paranormal theories, investigative techniques and equipment used to capture evidence. Students will learn how the Society does an investigation from the first contact to the final reveal and get the opportunity to hear and see intriguing evidence collected from haunted prisons, schools, asylums and locations throughout the Midwest. Mary Marshall, founder of The Paranormal MD, a technology based paranormal research group located in Schaumberg, is offering a wide variety of paranormal studies classes at Harper College in Palatine and at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. Her classes are aimed at bringing the sciences and critical thinking into the study of the paranormal.
This October, Harper College is offering the class Ghost and Spirit Entities: A Global Perspective (LAA 0107). Offered on Thursdays from 7 PM to 9 PM, the class will be co-taught by cultural anthropologist, Dr.Scott Cashman. The college website indicates that the class will help develop paranormal investigation skills by creating a broad knowledge of how spirits are understood globally. The class runs from October 17th to December 12th and registration is now open.
Another offering at Harper College is, Paranormal Investigating - Forming, Organizing, and Managing a Team (LAA 0407). This class is designed to help paranormal groups learn how to run their organizations like a successful business.
At the College of DuPage Mary is presently teaching the class, Paranormal Investigation (LEISR-0067-013) where student look at paranormal investigations from scientific, psychological, technical and spiritual aspects.
Mary will be offering the Ghost and Spirit Entities class at the College of DuPage this coming spring. Harper College and The Theosophical Society of America in Wheaton will offer some of Mary’s other paranormal studies classes in early 2014.
Aspiring ghost hunters, experienced paranormal investigators or anyone interested in anomalous studies will find value in these classes that explore these unique fields of study.
