It does not matter if you are conducting paranormal investigations as a hobby or truly pursuing the paranormal, you have to know the different types of entities you may encounter during an investigation. We have already discussed residual and intelligent haunts. Each one has characteristics of their own.
Residual haunts are the least likely of all haunts to cause harm to you or your investigating team. Mostly because they are just replaying something that occurred in the past.
Intelligent haunts, though more than likely will not bring harm to you, can be interesting to interact with. With intelligent haunts you can never rule out any danger.
One of the most of the dangerous entities are classified as a demon haunt or other dangerous classification. Though they occur very infrequently, demons can be encountered during an investigation. These haunts are classified as an inhuman entity haunting.

A strong, revolting stench has been reported by paranormal investigators who have encountered demons during an investigation. The smell is similar to that of rotting flesh or sulfuric acid. It has also been reported that sounds seem to come from everywhere in the room at once.
Other demon interactions can include pushing, shoving, hitting and scratching. Many paranormal investigators have taken photos of three parallel scratches in which they unaware of where they came from.
Demons are very strong and do not mind showing you their strength. Their ultimate goal is to break a person’s free will, paving a path toward possession. They can appear anywhere at anytime and in any form they choose. Sometimes they fake out paranormal investigators appearing as human haunts to avoid the house from being blessed. One form that is most often witnessed is a black mass found standing in door ways, also referred to as a shadow devil.
Do not deal with demons alone. If you encounter this type of haunt, and you are not part of a paranormal group, find one and seek assistance as quickly as possible.
