Ghost Hunting 101: How to handle spirits, Part 1

When going on a paranormal investigation there are things you can do and things you cannot do. I have written about many of these dos and don’ts in previous articles, but have never really talked about how to handle the spirits. Just like the other tips lists, there are things you should be aware of before attempting to make contact with paranormal entities.

Many ghost hunters believe that this list is more than a do and do not list. It is a way of life when dealing with both seen and unseen forces. And I cannot stress how important it is for every ghost hunter, no matter how experience he or she may be, must abide by these guidelines.

Let’s take a look at the different ways you should handle spirits:

Be Respectful

Spirits will be more inclined to open up to you and communicate with you if you respect them. Take the time to assure them they have not been forgotten and you honestly want to know their story. Be sincere, because believe it or not, ghost have feelings too!

Be Professional

Present yourself in a professional manner. Many ghost hunters are not take seriously, by both the living and the dead. The only way to be taken seriously is to always act in a professional manner. Treat your ghost hunting adventures as a business and work it like one.

Do Not Bully

Spirits will not open up to you and may take a defensive stance (which is never a good thing) when they are being bullied into communicating. Do not tease or threaten the spirits. Remember, you will receive communication from the spirits in the same form you are communicating. So if you are abusive, they will be abusive in return.

Buddy System

Never go on a ghost hunt alone. There are many reasons for this, but the main one is safety. There is safety in numbers, from both real and paranormal dangers. If possible take a large group on the investigation so you can break up into smaller groups.

Be Strong

Mean and dangerous spirits attack those who are more vulnerable than others. Remember to always be strong and present yourself that way. Present yourself as being confident and the spirits will move on to the next person who may appear more vulnerable.

The list of ways to handle spirits goes on and on. So I hope those items listed in Part 1 gets you started and answers some of your questions. Check back later this week for more ways to handle the paranormal.

Happy Haunting!!
