It's Tuesday night. You're bored, nothing to do. You think to yourself "I want to go out to a place with a good vibe, good people, cheap drinks, and most importantly pricelessly groovy music". Well, look no further sir/maam. Tuesday nights at The Lab in Agoura Hills with The Geyer/Drummond Trio is just the place to go.
As mentioned before, cheap drinks (check), good beer (right on), great low-key yet lively atmosphere (I'm sold). However, the best part of Tuesday nights at The Lab is the smooth, sensual sounds of The Geyer/Drummond Trio, and they recently announced that they will be there through December. While they may not be responsible for the drink selection and pricing at The Lab, they are definitely the ones to thank for it's laid back, smooth jazz atmosphere.
The trio consists of father and son Stephen (Guitar), and Devon (Bass) Geyer respectively. The two have have such an effortless musical back and forth connection that others can only hope to achieve in their lifetimes. Rounding out the group is Burleigh 'Mickey' Drummond (naturally) on drums, keeping it all grounded and popping without a hitch for as long as you are ready to drink, dance, and groove.
If you're looking to hear jazz done well, this is the band. Perfect to take a date, a friend, or just to be that lonely, noir guy at the bar, just waiting for trouble in the form of a woman to come your way whilst intoxicating jazz permeates the low-lit, vintage-style room. Her husband is steppin' out on her, and you're just the private detective that she needs, no that she desires! ::ahem::
Excuse me. The Geyer/Drummond Trio is so good that I just slipped into a jazz-induced Film-Noir fantasy world. Tuesday nights, don't miss it.
