According to TSN, Canadian Olympic gold medallist Ryan Getzlaf has signed an eight year contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks worth $66 million on Friday.

Getzlaf currently leads the Ducks with 10 goals, 19 assists and 29 points.

A centreman, Getzlaf who is a native of Regina, Saskatchewan played on the gold medal winning Canadian men's ice hockey team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. During the prestigious tournament, Getzlaf had three goals and four assists in seven games.

Getzlaf, who is very comfortable playing in southern California, has played his entire career with the Anaheim Ducks after being drafted by Anaheim in the first round of the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft from the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League. He was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next season prior to the contract extension.
