Getting your flu shot

Now that you've researched and determined if you can and should get a flu shot, you're probably trying to figure out where to go. Here's a list of places in Marion County where flu shots are being offered:

  • Marion County Health Department will begin offering flu shots on Oct. 18th at the main clinic, located at 1801 SE 32nd Ave in Ocala. They will be available 8am-3pm Mon-Fri beginning Oct. 18th and ending Oct. 29th. Additionally, for those that can't get to the main clinic, they will have them at the Reddick clinic on Nov. 4th, and the Belleview clinic on Nov. 5th. The flu shot is $30, and they also have a pneumonia shot for $50. Medicare and some other insurance will cover most or all of the cost.

  • Walgreens is offering the flu shot at all of their locations. You do need to sign a consent form, but they make the form available online so you can print and fill it out before you go in, making it a bit quicker. They do not advertise their price online.

  • CVS is also offering the flu shot at all of their locations. They have a schedule available on their website so you can book your appointment or see available walk-in times. They also do not advertise their price online.

  • Walmart has a flu shot locator on their website where you can find times and dates of all flu shot locations. Unfortunately, they don't give their price online, either.

  • Publix has an online clinic locator on their website or you can call 1-877-FLU-8100 to find which local pharmacies are offering the flu shot. Publix is offering it for $25.

  • Winn Dixie also has the flu shot in their pharmacy. At this time, they are only offering it at the Crystal Square Shopping Center Winn Dixie, located at 6851 SE Maricamp Rd in Ocala. If you use your Reward Card (which you can pick up at the Customer Service desk and use immediately!), you can save $5 on the shot. The flu shot is $28 without the card ($23 with the card), and the High Dose flu shot is $48 without the card ($43 with the card.)

Your family doctor can also give you your flu shot. They can often do it when you come in for an appointment and some will offer walk in hours just for a flu shot. Check with your doctor for details. Some urgent care clinics also offer flu shots.
