Gym rats, this one is for you! It is very easy to slip into a routine where you go to the gym everyday and lift weights or run on the treadmill, and when something happens and you are unable to get to the gym, panic sets in. There are so many ways in which to work out and get your daily burn than going to the gym everyday.
If you have children, then go play with them! Get involved in whatever it is that they are doing. Take them to the park and do not just sit around watching them, get involved. You will not only have some great bonding time with them, but you can also burn 250 to 300 calories for one hour of play.
Another great way to burn calories throughout the day is to park far away from where you need to be and walk a little extra. Instead of taking the elevator up to the next floor always take the stairs both up and down, making sure to plant your entire foot on the stair and step up with your legs instead of only your calf. Doing only these two things could help you burn an extra 500 calories a day, depending on how many errands you had to run that day.
Taking walks outside or going hiking is also a great way to get some exercise and fresh air all at the same time. In fact, walking outside burns more calories than walking on a treadmill because of the difference in terrain. Walking outside will also help to increase your vitamin D levels because you will be exposed to the sun more, which will not only make you glow a little, but you will also feel really great.
There are so many ways in which to burn calories without going to the gym every single day. If you love the gym then that is great, but there are always going to be times when you simply cannot get there, and these are just a few of the ways in which you can still burn calories. So get out there and enjoy life without being stuck in the gym all the time.
