Q: You have exceptional experience working with children in different capacities, from kids clubs, tutoring, an art center, and now culinary. What made you want to share ideas about healthy eating with children?
A: I believe that it is imperative for children to be educated in health, wealth and nutrition knowing that the obesity, diabetes in children is on the rise. Also, I wanted to make a difference in the lives of the children and give them a chance for a healthy future, by having them learn, have fun, create, taste and make their own meals while they learn how to simple it is to eat and cook healthy.
Q: As we know, many children do not like eating vegetables. How does teaching children recipes based on color change their ideas and behavior toward eating vegetables?
A: Children really enjoy color, therefore, when you educate them about different veggies using color they remember it and then of course we have many signature Rainbow Chefs recipes to follow that are fun to make and yummy and healthy to eat .
Q: Can you share a colorful healthy plate of food that attracts children?
A: Yes of course. We can have fun recipes and most of them involve color, but here is some of our signature recipes, Rainbow Pita Pizza, Rainbow Crepes, Rainbow spinach Dip, Rainbow Bear Claw Cookies, etc. and much more.
Q: What information do you provide to children who want to master the kitchen as a “young chef?”
A: Our curriculum based classes cover kitchen safety, culinary arts vocabulary, nutrition, meal planning, culinary arts skills, and much more.
Q: Rainbow Chefs offer a variety of programs, spring, summer, and winter camps, enriched program, and birthday parties. As we know, parents love celebrating their child’s birthday. Can you name a healthy menu that you suggest for a child birthday party?
A: There are many ways to make kids favorite the healthy way and we have many great birthday parties menu’s to choose from. For example we have Mexican Fiesta with Salsa, Guacamole, Mango Marinated Chicken Skewers and Cinnamon Pita Chips with Fruit Salsa is just one of many examples.
Q: From your experience, do you foresee children’s bad eating habits changing within the next decade and how are you contributing to that change?
A: Yes, my hope is that we educate, empower and engage as many kids as possible into learning about health, wellness and nutrition through our amazing hands-on culinary arts program that will help your child make healthy choices in the future and with that I'm looking forward for Rainbow Chefs to be a big part of this change. I truly hope that Rainbow Chefs is able to provide this program to as many people and communities as possible to make a difference in the lives of the children.
