It is that time of year when we evaluate our lives and set New Year Resolutions for the upcoming year. Many diabetics resolve to manage diabetes better, loose weight and exercise more.
Be realistic in your goals. Set an attainable goal. Make a plan but be flexible. Keep a fitness journal and track your progress. One great help can be Lancaster’s Universal Athletic Club.
Universal Athletic Club is a family owned and operated full service fitness center. Your membership includes a fitness coach, motivational incentive programs, group fitness classes, cardio and strength training equipment, indoor track, basketball courts, indoor pool and aqua fitness classes, martial arts, and private exercise studios.
Classes include cycling, cardio, mind and body, muscle conditioning, combination classes, aqua fitness, martial arts, boxing, and cross fit.
Also included in your membership is an eight step program, appropriately called Your Success Plan, which provides new members with education and support. Through this program, members meet with a fitness coach one on one for four times over the course of the first month. This allows you to set up goals, get familiar with the facility, learn how to properly use the various equipment, discuss some simple nutritional tips, and design your own personal success plan.
The Club also offers several “extras”. The Day Spa offers skin treatments, nail treatments, and massage therapy. The Club also has a Nutrition and Wellness Center on site. Universal is also home to Parisi Speed School. This “school” is designed to train athletes in various sports. The Club also offers Café U and a small Pro Shop.
Siegenthaler Chiropractic is also on site. Dr. Jim Siegenthaler and Dr. Paul Pettay both specialize in the Active Release Techniques (ART).
Universal is open today (New Year’s Eve) from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tomorrow (New Year Day) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Universal is located at 2323 Oregon Pike in Manheim Township, just north of Lancaster City.
