For the past two days, we considered the possibility of getting a reiki education for Fort Worth resident's. It began like this...
If you reside in Fort Worth, Texas and wish to become a reiki practitioner and/or master, then you have somewhat of a challenge ahead of you. For this reiki master, there happened to be a Meetup group that met in Denton once a week. This is a hearty 50 minute drive and even longer if you are geographically challenged and/or painfully forgetful.
And this is where we begin today's article.
Kotodama's
There are four basic differences between Usui Teate reiki and Violet Flame reiki, the first of which are the number of power symbols that are used for a typical reiki session. The average U.T. reiki practitioner will use about 3 symbols during a single healing. While there are other symbols, the basic number for your basic session will be three. V.F. uses 40 symbols, the gracious part of this is that they do not need to be drawn or chanted to be used.
Body Scan
U.T. reiki employes a body scan before healing energy is applied. The scan lets us know where to focus that energy and which parts require more focus or to be applied differently. V.F. doesn't do a scan on the premise that the energy goes where it needs to go.
Educational Materials
U.T. has a manual which is rich with data, history and information. V.F. has a small manual and there is not much to learn.
Age
Both reiki types are approximately the same in age and while their exact age is not precisely known, it is known that they have been around since 1900 if not earlier.
