Get ready to make it a "Birds Weekend" with California Living 2014 "Birds Movie Scene Tour Guide"

San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Calif. residents are in for a unique entertainment treat jam packed with Birds movie history, trivia, and thrills when they tune-in for the CALIFORNIA LIVING™"Insider's Guide" to all of the major filming sites in Alfred Hitchcock's famous 1960's thriller "The Birds" located in the unique town of Bodega, and coastal areas of Bodega Bay, California.

Viewers also get an entertaining overview of the Sonoma County town of Bodega - home to Potter School and St. Teresa's Church, one of the most famous Bird's movie filming sites. As the story goes, the ancient Potter Schoolhouse behind St. Theresa's Church (approximately five miles south of Bodega Bay in Bodega), was condemned and vacant at the time of the filming. After Alfred Hitchcock's crew did their magic to repair the exterior, it was used for several scenes in the Birds film. Today, while it is a private residence and no longer open for public tours, the public is invited to stop by and view the outside, take photographs, and experience a part of Alfred Hitchcock's living history in Sonoma County California.
St Teresa's - the Catholic church nearby and briefly visible in the film, was made famous when it was photographed by Ansel Adams.

Many of the shots of the children running from the schoolhouse were done on Taylor Street in Bodega Bay above the Diekmann's Bay Store with the original two story store visible at the bay's edge. Close ups of the running scene were set up at Universal Studios with the children running on a treadmill. Taylor Street is about a half a mile north of the Visitors Center.• The Insider's Guide on where to "stay & play" in Bodega Bay, Calif. with the inside look at The Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa - the #1 lodging choice in Bodega Bay, Calif.
