Free film screenings are available on a regular basis at many local venues. You just need to know where to look, that is where I come in. These film screenings can vary from the classics, retro, documentaries or first-run movies that have not yet hit the big screen.

FWPL offers First Sunday Film Club every first Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM.

These are award-winning films from drama, comedy, science fiction, action or documentaries. On a side note, keep an eye for "Movies That Matter", another program offered by the FWPL.

This month's feature is Lilies of the Fields on February 2, 2014.

Film screenings take place in the David L. Tandy Lecture Hall. Parking garage on 3rd Street and meter parking is free on weekends.

PALACE ARTS CENTER THEATER offers First Friday Night and Classic Movie Series.

These movie screenings are not free, but they are pretty affordable. Ticket price is $5.00 and you get a free popcorn if you bring a receipt from a Grapevine restaurant dated the same date. Movie time is 7:30 PM. Check out this line-up.

  • February 1 - The Man with the Golden Gun
  • February 7 - Some Like it Hot
  • February 8 - Mary Popplins
  • February 14 - When Harry Met Sally
  • February 28 - Dead Poet Society

Palace Arts Center Theater is located at 300 S. Main Street in Grapevine, TX. For more information or to purchase tickets call the Palace Theatre Box Office at 817-410-3100.

The Fort Worth Science and History Museum is offering a unique opportunity which includes a free film screening. If you have never been to the Omni Theater, this is your opportunity to check it out for free.

Admission is free but advance reservations are required. You will be required to complete a 5 minute survey at the end of the film, to help the museum decide if this is a film that should be offered at this venue.

Please note this screening is:

  • Limited seating
  • First-come, first served basis
  • Guest bus be 10 years of age or older
  • Limit of 2 tickets per household

To reserve your tickets today, email mkitchen@fwmsh.org. Make sure to include your name, email address and specify which time slot you would like to attend and whether you are a member of the museum. You will receive an email confirmation of your reservation along with additional instructions. For more information call, (817) 255-9300.

Free parking is not included in this free film screenings. The museum does not validate parking.

Studio Movie Grill offers several alternate programs which feature either free or affordable film screenings.

This programs offers free first-run movie screenings for children with special needs and their siblings. Adult tickets are $6.00 per person.

These are fun family movies, retro style.
