This Saturday the seaside community of Carlsbad will be hosting Halloween in the Village, a family friendly, safe trick or treating, and activity packed Halloween celebration.
Over 35 downtown merchants will be participating in the 3 hour Halloween in the Village event which runs from 2pm until 5pm in the heart of the pedestrian friendly Carlsbad Village. There will certainly be no shortage of sugar, besides the merchants handing out candy to dressed up witches and goblins, there will be cotton candy spun on the spot, cookie cutouts for decorating, and haunted ice cream to eat as well, (not a diabetics favorite holiday).
If you’re not that excited about the sweets and treats there are plenty of activities, even healthy ones, to participate in while you’re in the village. From 2pm until 3pm there will be free yoga offered to adults and children, there will be face painting and the annual costume contest, judging begins at 3pm.
Of course everyone should come dressed in their Halloween costume to take part in the annual costume contest, where awards and prizes will be given out to the cutest and scariest kids costumes, pet costume(s) and family themed costumes.
Local merchants sponsoring this event include Beach City Smoothies, (a sweet and healthy alternative to candy), the Carlsbad Danish Bakery, Wesco Pet Store (don’t forget to get a treat for your pet), Senor Grubby’s and the usual suspects that often jump at the opportunity to give back to their community in support of local kids. Also sponsoring Halloween in the Village is the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club, who will be hosting a haunted house at their location on Roosevelt Street from 6:30 until 9:30pm.
This is a FREE event on Saturday October 26th, this Saturday, from 2pm-5pm in the Village of Carlsbad.
