Wauwatosa joins dozens of other cities across the United States in hosting a Get Your Rear in Gear 5K for the Colon Cancer Coalition. The Milwaukee-area event takes place Saturday, October 12, at Charles Hart Park in ‘Tosa.
Approximately 75 percent of the net funds raised by Get Your Rear in Gear races are used to fund local colon cancer awareness and screening programs, according to the Minnesota-based organizers, who have held such events since 2005.
Race-day registration is offered for the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K, beginning at 7 a.m. on October 12.
A kids half-mile fun run starts at 8:10 z.m. on race day, followed by a 5K timed run at 8:30 a.m. and a 5K walk at 8:35 a.m.
Participants may pick up race packets on Friday, October 11, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Froedtert Medical College Cancer Center, located at 9200 West Wisconsin Avenue, in Wauwatosa. Packets will also be available on-site before the Get Your Rear in Gear event at Hart Park on October 12.
