Get your mid-week Therapy

Everyone needs to find a way to get through their week. Some might have you consider Therapy. No I don't mean go lay on a shrinks couch and spill your guts on how your boss makes your life difficult and your co-worker always smells of cheese, I mean head to Therapy Cafe in downtown Dayton and listen to some of the area's best Singer/Songwriters.

Every Wednesday night at 9:00pm, songwriters wander in with their guitars in hand, keyboards under their arms and a folder full of new material they want to try out on a live audience.

The environment is transformed from just another bar in the downtown area, to an exclusive hangout for those who love music and want a sneakpeak at tomorrow's stars. It's not only free admission, but the venue also offers a wide-range of alcohol and a full food menu. The night is hosted by local star, Al Holbrook who performs on a regular basis in the Dayton area as a solo artist and with his band.

Last night was no different as four songwriters graced the stage to a packed crowd. One as young as 17 and giving one of her very first performances. The night ended with two of Dayton's most talented - the host and vocal powerhouse Al Holbrook behind his microphone and keyboard singing his originals, along with Meghna Mahambrey who has one of the most distinct and powerful voices in the area. The two traded songs back and forth wowing the crowd one song after another. Al played his ever-popular originals and accompanied Meghna with hers as well as cover songs including "Someone Like You" by Adele and "My Guitar Gently Weeps" by The Beatles, a personal favorite. By the end of their set, the two had given jaw-dropping performances that left everyone with the feeling they had just stumbled upon the two next big things in music.

So what are you missing if you don't go to Therapy Cafe on Wednesdays? Well, great music, good company and a great reason to look forward to your mid-week after party.
