Get your home organized in July?

Home organizing in July? Probably not.

Enjoy your summer. If you have a moment, now is a good time to plan for fall. Do this when it is convenient for you. Get a jump on things now to make August and September less hectic.

Remember self care. It won't always be summer. Schedule "me time" for yourself. Try to get outside even if it is just for a walk to the mail box or standing outside to drink your coffee for a few minutes.

Pick your frame of mind:  Be proactive. Make lists, create plans, and set limits on what you will put on your calendar this fall to help keep you in the driver's seat of your life.

Summer clutter clearing in July:  It is time to be honest about your summer wardrobe!

1. Your closet: I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If you haven't worn it yet, you aren't going to wear it. Weed out those summer clothes that you aren't going to use this summer or next...
2. Your children's closets: Same idea here. Weed out what is outgrown, disliked, and not worn. Free up room for fall school clothing.
3. Coat closet: How many raincoats, summer jackets, and hats/baseball caps do we really "need" per person? Thin down. Decide to decide.

Bonus challenge: For the month of July, when you open a dresser drawer, do a quick evaluation. What hasn't been worn and won't be? Grab those items and put them in your donation box! Extra socks? Undies that could be repurposed as rags? Too many tops or bottoms? Weed out what isn't being used.

Maybe you are saying "I feel like summer is slipping away."
Have a family meeting. Find out what summer activities you want to do while there is still time. Put them on the calendar!

Tip: Your time is your life. It is that simple. Stay conscious. Make conscious choices about how you want to spend your time. You can do this!
