As the Chicago weather finally gets back to seasonal norms, pet lovers anxiously await the annual Bark in the Park event that takes place each year at Montrose Harbor. This year the event will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd.

This is an exciting year as 2014 marks the 20th annual Bark in the Park for Chicagoans. The plan is to have thousands of dogs and people attend. In addition to the 5K Walk/Run, there will be fun activities, like agility courses, a pet spa, a pet psychic and several demonstrations for you and your canine companion to enjoy.

Bark in the Park was devised by The Anti-Cruelty Society (TACS) to help save the lives of homeless animals within the Chicagoland community. Each year dogs lead their owners out this, their favorite Chicago event.

Come rain or shine, thousands of dogs and their pet parents will high-tail it to Montrose Harbor on May 3rd for a morning of fun and an opportunity to raise both funds and awareness for TACS, Chicago’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization. Each year an abundance of people and pets join the cause, but this year is special as it marks the 20th year of this great fundraising event!

Why is Bark looked forward to so much? Well, for one, it is a great day of camaraderie for the animals lovers that attend. This year’s emcees, ABC7’s Hosea Sanders and Roz Varon, will be on site kicking off the 5K and keeping everyone energized throughout the morning. Cat owners are welcome as well and are given the opportunity to make a pin in honor of their feline friends that are not able to attend the dog-friendly event.

As previously stated, activities will include a dog obstacle course, Denise Zak pet psychic, pet massages, dog tattoos, nail clipping spa, souvenir photo booth, product samples from our sponsors, free snacks, contests, 50/50 cash raffle, face-painting and fun for the kids, and more.

Bark in the Park is made possible by the generous sponsors of TACS: ABC7, Hill’s Science Diet,BMO/Harris Investments, PetSmart, 103.5 KissFM, and many more corporate and individual supporters.

Advance registration is $35 for adults, $15 for children 3-15, and dogs and children under 3 are free. Walkers/runners are encouraged to register and raise funds for some great prizes online.

It is a great day for the entire family to enjoy. Take a look at pictures from last year’s walk, then register and pledge, and find out about sponsor information by visiting www.barkinthepark.org.
