Get Carter!

I'm not referring to the 2000 film that features Sylvester Stallone. However, the metro-Atlanta community has the opportunity to not only get to know a certain Carter, along with her political platform well in advance of the approaching 2014 election season.

Native Georgian and metro-Atlanta resident Doreen Carter (D-GA) is a candidate for the office of Georgia Secretary of State. On Thursday, April 17th, from 6-8pm, the general public and greater Atlanta community is invited (along with bringing a guest) to meet, greet, professionally network, and learn more about her platform as it relates to the office and the entities it impacts (ranging from businesses, nonprofits, and others entities that fall under the Secretary of State's jurisdiction).

Hosted by the Friends for Doreen Carter, Inc, the event takes place at Sage Wood Fire Tavern (4505 Ashford-Dunwoody Road). "We welcome potential (and active) voters, members of our business community, and people from all walks of life to attend the event", notes Tannis Harris, the campaign's PR and Marketing Director.

Carter's background and experience covers multiple arenas, ranging from local government (city council), business and entrepreneurship, religious, and civic affairs. Under her platform, her focus areas for the office include improved operational effectiveness, enhancement of the election process, expansion of business opportunities, and empowerment of economic growth.

In addition to the professional and political engagement opportunities, the event is also serving as a fundraiser for her campaign. When asked about donation levels, Harris notes that donations of any and all amounts are respected and appreciated.

"No amount is too small", adds Harris.

Opportunities for interaction and engagement with those who are vying for political office on any level are indeed beneficial to the general public and our immediate and surrounding communities. This Thursday provides an ideal way to become more acquainted with a candidate for a key and critical office within the state of Georgia.
