This was not the best of winters for Sierra businesses and residents. The lack of snow plaguing California hamstrung the ski resorts, with a disastrous trickle-down effect on the rest of the region’s economy.
Not a skier myself, I tend to enjoy summer visits to Tahoe, Truckee and the like. The cooler temps and snow-free terrain are ideal for hiking and biking. There are other attractions too, including outdoor concerts and lakeside Shakespeare.
That explains why I am already making plans to head up the hill this summer to catch quaw Valley’s live blues series. The free performances begin at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in the Village.
