Author Brent Marchant has discovered an entertaining way to explain to people how the concept of conscious creation, also known as the law of attraction, works. In his popular book Get The Picture: Conscious Creation Goes to the Movies, Brent defines the principles behind the law of attraction by reviewing films illustrating the concepts. Not only do you get in-depth film reviews of great movies, but he discusses conscious creation ideas, analyzes how the films demonstrate the concepts, and how to integrate them into your own life.
When commenting about the book Brent said, “The intent behind the book was to provide readers with a roadmap to go from the point where they theoretically knew little or nothing about how the process worked, to the point where they would become reasonably capable of making use of it in their daily lives.”
“Specifically,” he continued, “it’s first of all becoming aware that the process even exists, which is what the first chapter is about. Secondly, it’s learning that you are more than just your sensory perceptions, which is what the second chapter covers. Those two chapters initially provide the starting point for where a lot of people are at. They pretty much rely on what their senses are telling them, what they can visually see or touch. I wanted to get them to understand that this is where you’re starting from. Let’s move beyond that.”
“When you get into the 3rd chapter, I start to talk a little about the mechanics of how the process works. I go into the magical approach - the harmonization of intuition and intellect, or the harmonization of the science and spirit. All of the complementary forces that go into making conscious creation function as a process. Then from that I step into different chapters that outline some of the principles of how to make it more effective.“
Chapter 4 is about the concept of making the effective use of choice. Chapter 5 discusses making use of change. Chapter 6 reviews the idea of facing fears and living heroically. The next chapter talks about understanding the evolution of your beliefs over time to see how they go from one point to another, which helps people understand how they are making use of the law of attraction and how they are growing as a result of it. Chapter 8 deals with connectedness, and the idea that everything in your reality is all part of this creating. That you are not just picking and choosing what you are creating, that you are creating the whole thing.
Chapter 9 is about expanding your own personal capabilities with things like healing and telekinesis, and understanding the multi-dimensional self. Chapter 10 discusses using altered states of consciousness, such as dreams and altered states of meditation, to help expand your awareness and perhaps your effectiveness as a conscious creator. The final chapter, Chapter 11, reveals the joy and power of creation that comes as a result of using all of these principles in combinations to create a reality that you are happy and satisfied with.
Some of the metaphysical films analyzed in Get the Picture include A Beautiful Mind, The Indigo Revolution, Pay It Forward, and What Dreams May Come.
