The popular children's television series takes the stage Monday in New Orleans. Based on the award-winning, live-action show from creators Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz, Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! is sure to provide a positive theatre experience for children and their families.
Yo Gabba Gabba airs on Nick Jr. and often hosts celebrity guests such as Elijah Wood, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Jack Black, and The Aquabats. What separates it from other network shows is that it was developed by two fathers from Southern California who decided to team up against the poor selection of childrens' television. With neither writing experience nor knowledge of education or broadcasting, Jacobs and Schultz merely wanted an entertaining program that featured real artists and performers.
Like many things in this techno-era, Yo Gabba Gabba failed to capture attention until it began circulating on the internet. Once it reached the eyes Napoleon Dynamite's director Jared Hess, a process began and the show made its home with Nickelodeon in August 2007.
While the show itself is currently in its fourth season, this will be the live series' third annual tour across the nation. Taking fan favourites from the past two tours, the state-of-the-art production will combine new music and a number of other surprises you won't want to miss.
Two showtimes are scheduled for NOLA on 18 March, at 3 and 6pm. Each performance is approximately 80 minutes long, which includes a 20 minute intermission between acts. The company has it timed to be just enough to entertain the youngsters without overtiring them. As such, it's advised to be gathered in the theatre and at your seats within ten minutes before the scheduled start. Performances will begin on time, so don't be late!
Tickets can be found on the show's touring site, or directly through Mahalia Jackson Theatre's box office. They're on sale now for $28.75 and $38.75.
