Whether you suffer from razor burn, ingrown hairs, eczema or even Keratosis Pilaris on your legs, follow these easy and cheap guidelines and within a week or two you will be beach ready. The main thing is being consistent, and your skin will eventually retain itself to behave. Learn what causes your flare ups and your first step is to avoid these.

Your skin is a very sensitive organ that protects us from the outside elements, and since it covers our entire body is must be pretty important. We neglect our skin more than we should. From the foods we eat to the products we use, we are usually the culprits of our own skin conditions. But knowing is half the battle right?

Razor burn is caused when we do not use proper lubrication between the razor and our skin during shaving. It is possible to even get it from a dirty razor, or shaving to quickly. So here are some simple steps to prevention and treatment.

  • Make sure your not using a dull razor ( actually throw away your disposable razors )
  • Use shaving cream or gel and massage into the skin till thoroughly moist
  • Take your time shaving
  • Use a moisturizer with oatmeal, free of dyes, fragrances, lanolin, and mineral oils

For example, Eucerin Calming Creme is often recommended by dermatologists. You can use this product on all the conditions listed in this article, and will probably do most of the work for you.

Ingrown hairs are annoying but simple to correct, exfoliating is going to be your main form of treatment and prevention. You can try shaving every day. It may sound silly, but it works. The more consistently you shave, the less frequent they are. If you shave every day for a week it will clear up by about 80%. Using the right moisturizer after will also make a big difference.

Keratosis Pilaris is slightly different. You don't really want to shave over these, it can cause irritation, bleeding, and can lead to infection. You may want to use a homemade sugar scrub for about a week in conjunction with heavy use of calming moisturizers. The difference between ingrown hairs and Keratosis Pilaris can be hard to spot. Here are some things to look for.

Keratosis Pilaris: Dry and flaky, these can be red and have little white heads.

Ingrown Hairs: These resemble more of little red bumps that have no white heads and are smoother to touch

Remember that it is going to take more than an overnight treatment with skin. It takes time for your cells to renew and bring back new young healthy skin from underneath. Just be sure to be regular with your routine, and you can prevent most skin conditions.
