Are you ready for the Big One?
The popular catchphrase ‘Life’s a beach!’ holds true for those fortunate enough to live and work in the South Bay. It’s no secret the idyllic location and lifestyle has a tendency to breed contentment. However, there are certain conditions one should never disregard and the fact is, this is earthquake country.
Join millions of people who will drop, cover and hold at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 17 in the 2013 Great California Shake Out!
Last year more than 12.5 million people were registered in Shake Out drills worldwide.
The Great California Shake Out is an annual opportunity to practice how to be safer and better prepared before, during and after big earthquakes. The Shake Out has been organized to encourage individuals, families, communities, schools, businesses and organizations to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies and to secure structures in order to prevent damage and injuries.
When you register, you or your organization will:
•Be counted in the largest earthquake drill in California
•Be listed with other participants in your area (Optional)
•Be an example that motivates others to participate and prepare
•Be updated with Shake Out news and preparedness tips
•Have peace of mind that you, your family, your co-workers and millions of others will be better prepared to survive and recover quickly from our next big earthquake.
While some areas of California are more likely to have earthquakes than others, all of California is at higher risk compared to the rest of the country and the South Bay is no exception.
It’s time to get ready.
