Get Ready!: A Change is Gonna Come (Photos)

“Get ready,” proclaimed Pastor Guidry at a recent advent service. “We are preparing to meet the King of Kings.” Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas, the day on which Jesus is said to have been born, and represents the four Sundays immediately preceding Christmas Day.
Speaking at the Sunday morning worship service on the first Sunday of Advent at New Vision Christian Church, Pastor Guidry told an enthusiastic audience, “We must prepare ourselves for the coming kingdom. Jesus is coming again.” He went on to say, “We need to get ready now because the second coming will be a time of judgment.”
Pastor Guidry explained that Advent reminds the church to preach the Gospel in the tradition of John the Baptist who came preaching in the wilderness. “And what was he preaching?” Guidry asked. “He was preaching repentance. Repentance is more than a proclamation – it is an action – a turning away from sin and a staying away from sin.”
Advent no longer signals just the birth of Jesus. According to Pastor Guidry, it also signals the second coming of Jesus and the Day of Judgment. “Are you ready?”
Princeton Harden directed the adult choir in renditions of “Why Are You Crying?” and “I Wanna Be Born Again.”
