The Get Outdoors Expo is coming to the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, Utah on May 13-14th, 2011. This is a great opportunity to get in tune with the outdoor enthusiast in you. If you’re not quite sure about that outdoor enthusiast, this expo will get you excited to delve more into letting that part out and enjoying the incredible outdoor playground that Utah is known for.
The Get Outdoors Expo encourages families and all individuals to get outside and have a healthy and adventurous lifestyle. It is the first public expo in the Intermountain area that focuses directly on “human powered” outdoor activities and adventures.
Rock climbing will be one of the highlights at the Get Outdoors Expo with their Vertical Zone. Rock climbing is rapidly growing as it is a great sport to be involved in that gives your whole body a good workout. It not only requires physical involvement but mental as well. The Vertical Zone will have competitions, demos, giveaways and games for people of all ages.
There will be rock climbing walls and bouldering problems to try out in the Vertical Zone. Climbers of all levels of difficulty will be able to test out their skills and get their climb on. The Front Climbing Club will be hosting a Semi-Pro competition on the UBC Pro Tour walls at the expo on May 14th. If you want to be involved in that, contact the Front Climbing Club. Climbers will be competing for a prize.
The Peddle Fest is another attraction you’ll experience at the Get Outdoors Expo. You’ll be able to spend time with some of Utah’s top BMX riders. Rob Wise will be attempting to break the world record for the bunny hop while Jeremy VanSchoonhoven, five-time National Stunt Champion Cyclist, will be performing on the main stage. See gravity defying stunts on the Freestyle Ramps throughout the expo performed by the 5050 BMX Race Team which is composed of X Game and Dew Tour athletes.
There’s never a dull moment at the Get Outdoors Expo, and you won’t want to miss out on the excitement and activities that you can be a part of at this adventurous shindig. Tickets are $8.00. Hours are 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Friday, May 13th and 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM on Saturday, May 14th.
