'Get Organized Month' profile: Seattle professional organizer Natasha Packer

In observance of Get Organized Month, this Examiner is continuing to feature Seattle area professional organizers throughout January.

We interviewed Natasha Packer about her six years as owner of As You Wish based in Everett, Washington. Packer specializes in spacial organization and home-based businesses, offering solutions for home offices and computer and financial organization.

Who is your typical client? Mothers over 40 years old who are business owners and love the details to be taken care of.

Describe your organizing approach. Many people complain that they could be organized but they have never been taught. To that end, we focus on hands-on organizing combined with coaching and then wrap productivity around it all so the process makes complete sense.

Do clients work directly with you, or do you assign an employee and/or subcontractor? I work directly with many clients but I also have others who are available to assist if necessary.

What is your fee structure? I offer home organization and business organization packages, as well as a "Private Office Assistant" option. Clients can choose the level of help they need.

Do you work with a written contract? Always! I think anyone who doesn’t have a contract is asking for problems.

If a potential client has tried unsuccessfully to get organized previously, how will working with you be different? Each professional organizer has a unique style to the process. Our concern is that the client and professional organizer are a good fit. If there is no chemistry, then it’s time to look for someone else. A second factor we account for is client dedication. Without the client feeling the drive to meet their expressed goals, we cannot be successful. I communicate this clearly before any contract signing.
