‘Get Organized Month’ profile: Seattle professional organizer Fabian Borre

In observance of Get Organized Month, this Examiner is featuring Seattle area professional organizers.

We interviewed Fabian Borre of Interior Visions, LLC who specializes in Professional Organizing and Interior Design Services.

How long have you been in the organizing business? I've been in the organizing business for six years. I have always been an organized person. I am a project manager at heart.

What kinds of organizing projects do you do? I like to do residential and home offices. My favorite rooms are kitchens, and family rooms.

Who is your typical client? Busy moms, executives and busy families with hectic lifestyles who need assistance with their homes.

Describe your organizing approach. I provide a comprehensive organizing plan. My typical working session with a client includes a one hour in-person interview to talk about the organizing concerns of their home or office. Depending on the scope and size of the project I may need additional information about the family to help me understand the day-to-day habits of the client.

After our work together, I follow-up with clients to make sure the organizing system we developed is working for them and to provide suggestions to help improve the system.

Do clients work directly with you? Yes, I work directly with clients. Depending upon the size of the job I may hire contractors to help me with construction drawings and other technical design work.

What is your fee structure? My professional organizing service fees are based on an hourly rate. Design projects are structured by a fixed percentage of the final overall costs of the job.

Do you work with a written contract? Yes. I provide a Letter of Agreement to all my clients. For all design projects I also provide an Agreement for Interior Design Services.

If a potential client has tried unsuccessfully to get organized previously, how will working with you be different? Generally the issue is how someone maintains the organization. I identify the problem and provide real life solutions that the client can maintain. If a system does not fit well with a client they are typically not going to maintain it.

Offering follow-up visits and providing education regarding day to day habits often eliminates disorganization from reoccurring again.

I try to make it fun! I enjoy transforming chaotic places into beautiful, functional spaces. It’s all about adding personality, color and incorporating all the human senses to the client's daily organization and surroundings.
