Families of children with health and developmental challenges need to thrive in this community. Have you ever wondered how you can help (or where you can get help)? Finding the right support for a family with a child who has special needs can be...daunting. Daunting for families and for the loved ones around them.

SOLUTION? Discover and share the AISD Family Support Coop in Austin, TX.

The Family Support Co-op is cooperative effort between Austin ISD, The Arc of the Capital Area & Austin Travis County Integral Care. ~Special Education in AISD

Time: Pizza Dinner served at 6:00pm | SESSIONS run from 6:30-8:00pm

The support you need could be found in sessions like:

  • Fostering Home & School Success for ADD CHADD facilitator, Dr. Ed Gooze, Ph.D., offers effective problem solving strategies to leap the daily hurdles in the world of ADD/ADHD.
  • Sign Language for Beginners Amanda Walker, AI PPCD Educator, will demonstrate the basic signs you need to communicate with your loved one.
  • Differential Diagnosis: Anxiety Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Neither or Both? Texas NeuroRehab specialist, Dr. Rachel Robillard, PhD, LSSP, defines these conditions in children & how the characteristics manifest in the school setting
  • Building a Constructive Relationship w/Your Child Elise Krentzel, Life Coach/Author offers positive experiences to the weary in rejuvenating connections with your child!

More sessions are available... Highlighted Session: Camps for Children with Special Needs!

Specialty groups include a Sibling Support Group, Relationship Development Intervention Group, Art for Autism Group, and Adult ADD Group.

As an added benefit for families, Janna Lilly, AISD Special Education Director will be on hand for Q & A.
