Once upon a time, on television sets far, far away in Great Britain, the Time Lord Doctor Who of the planet Gallifrey appeared before the people of Earth in 1963. Now, fifty years later near Sea World in Orlando the Hurricane Who: Category Four Convention is happening! So if you’re a fan of not only Doctor Who but of science fiction in general and are planning an Orlando vacation this late October or early November, you should come check it out.
This special event begins with a Convention Launch Party on Halloween night. There will be a Costume Ball that will include both a dance floor and a DJ. So if you’re planning on coming for this portion of the convention make sure to wear your best Doctor Who costumes.
The rest of the convention takes place from November 1st to the 3rd with plenty of activities. There are several guests in attendance at the upcoming event, including the Sixth Doctor himself, Colin Baker. In addition to “Doctor Who” cast and crew, there are guests from other sci-fi shows, such as “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “The Walking Dead.” In addition to over a dozen sci-fi celebrities in attendance, there will be costume contests and pool parties. There are plenty of souvenir and other purchasing opportunities in the Dealers Room, which includes but isn’t limited to a Movie and TV Store, the Intergalactic Trading Company, and Alien Entertainment.
This special sci-fi event is occurring in the Lakes Conference Center at the Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at Sea World, only twenty minutes away from the Orlando International Airport. There’s a special convention rate of $99.00 per night (tax not included). Prices for children cost $20.00 per day and $40.00 for the full weekend. Tickets for adults cost $35.00 per day (except for Saturday, which is $40.00) and $75.00 for the full weekend. All sales are final and there are not exceptions at all for refunds.
So get into your TARDIS and come on down to the Hurricane Who: Category Four! Like the Fourth Doctor once said, “There’s no point being grown-up if you can’t be childish sometimes.”
