Birch bark, acorn caps, pine cones, oh my! To prep your next nature hike or to decorate your Thanksgiving table, a kid-engineered fairy house is just the thing to learn to combine construction skills, seasonal nature materials and creativity. To spur your kids' imagination, you can try these great DIY tutorials on how to build a fairy house or join a kids' fairy houses workshop this Saturday November 5, 2011 at AMCE Party Box in Palo Alto.
During this workshop, kids will use natural materials and construct any type of structure from a "log cabin" with sticks to a simple leaf umbrella. Let their creativity roam free! Older children will be able to go all out on engineering while younger children will have the opportunity to use simple frameworks on which they can glue natural materials, saving frustration and time.
Twigs, fall leaves, moss, and seed pods will be transformed into miniature fairy houses and kids might even encounter a little gnome living in these magical structures when they bring them home!
With guidance from instructor Cathy, kids will learn to create these wonderful houses using natural materials and replicate them later in the woods or at the beach with their family.
