Health and fitness isn't exactly what comes to mind when you think of visiting Baltimore. Crab cakes, pound cake and an abundance of down-home comfort food sounds more like it. But this summer, visitors can work off the calories they put on with the Waterfront Wellness Series. The free classes take place most Saturdays and Sundays, May 24 through August 31 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Inner Harbor's West Shore Park (401 Light Street, between the Visitor Center and the Maryland Science Center).
New York Getaways got a preview of the waterfront workouts during a press trip in April, and although we were a bit reluctant, we have to admit taking a fitness class is a refreshing way to experience Baltimore City's bustling Harbor.
The free fitness classes include yoga, boxing boot camp, Parkour and Zumba, and these public classes are suitable for all skill levels and are taught by local professionals in the wellness industry. A one-time registration is required for the entire summer series.
